Shalom again-Roy Horovitz! – Debbie Havusha’s Blog

Shalom again-Roy Horovitz!

I was very excited to meet up with Roy Horovitz two days before I was leaving Israel two months ago (June 2015). As I was sitting in one of my favorite cafes sipping on my IMG_4623afternoon coffee, my cell phone rang.  Roy Horovitz was calling.  I told Roy that I am leaving in two days and unfortunately did not have time to meet up.  Roy then asked me “Eifo at?”(Where are you?)   I told him that I am at ‘Café Sheleg’ on Geula Street in Tel Aviv and getting ready to spend Shabbat in Rishon before I depart our land of Israel late Saturday night.  To this Roy responded that he too was really busy and getting ready to fly to New York to do a play, but he lives right beside the café and will be down in 10 minutes!!!

Roy Horovitz is a very talented Israeli actor and Dramaturg.  Roy came to Vancouver’s Fringe Festival and Chutzpah Festival eight years ago performing in the riveting Israeli award winning play ‘The Time Keepers’.   Three excellent actors; Roy Horovitz, Rami Baruch and Omer Etzion had graced the Granville Island and the Norman Rothstein stages. Our family has had the good fortune of forming friendships with these three actors.

How wonderful it was to meet our friend Roy again for coffee some eight years later.  I soon found out that his one-man show “My First Sony” was chosen to be featured in Vancouver’s Fringe Festival commencing in less than two weeks. (Starting September 11 for 6 shows in Vancouver and 2 shows in Seattle)

Please do not miss this award winning monodrama “My First Sony” which has toured Israel and abroad, to great acclaim for more than 13 years.  It has performed in U.S, Germany, Slovakia, South Africa, and Egypt and at the Edmonton’s Fringe Festival.  Click here for more info about the show

See you at The Fringe,

Debbie
