Sad News – Sam (Salman) Shamash z’l

It is with the greatest of sadness that we deliver to you today the heartbreaking news of the death of Sam Shamash.   Sam passed peacefully this morning at 6:00 AM at home surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Our heartfelt condolences go to his children:  Adam Shamash, Olivia Hornby, Samantha Rayner, and Ariel Shamash; their partners Iona Fournier-Tombs, Brendan Hornby, and Darren Rayner; his family Kamal, Ferial, Evelyn, Steven, Claire, Menashi, and Albert Shamash. He also leaves his partner Annelies Ravensbergen.
The Funeral details are as follows:
2:30 PM, Friday, August 12 at Beth Israel Cemetery, 1721 Willingdon Ave, Burnaby.
Shiva Details : The minyan will take place directly after the funeral ceremony due to Shabbat. Family and friends are invited to the Shamash house in Vancouver after the funeral for a celebration of life.
The shiva will continue each evening, with the final day Wednesday, August 17th.

The small parking area at our cemetery allows parking spaces only for clergy and immediate family members during funerals.
Please use street parking. If you choose to park at Brentwood Mall, it will be at your own risk as they may ticket or tow your vehicle.
