Kickstarter campaign in support of a new children’s book I wrote and illustrated called RARE IS EVERYWHERE
23K RAISED AND 6 DAYS TO GO – PLEASE HELP THE RARE IS EVERYWHERE PROJECT ON KICKSTARTER GET THE REST OF THE WAY THERE!
Three weeks ago, I launched a Kickstarter campaign in support of my new children’s book – RARE IS EVERYWHERE – a book of genetically rare animals like white tigers, blue lobsters, black jaguars and other amazing creatures – that inspires children to embrace differences, and their own rare beauty. As both a nurse and parent, I’ve come across so many children who feel different for some reason – whether due to allergies, autism, health conditions, disabilities, or even their family/cultural background — whatever it is that makes them feel different – they often feel like they are the only ones in the world. My inspiration for this book was to show children that when you take a bird’s eye view of the entire animal kingdom, it’s easy to see that differences are common- and something to celebrate!
This goal of the Kickstarter campaign is to fund the publication of the book – proceeds of the book will be donated to the Rare Disease Foundation at BC Children’s Hospital. The Rare Disease Foundation is an amazing organization that I have personally seen make a difference in the lives of many children. They don’t get government funding and drug companies don’t invest in rare diseases, so everything they do, they do with support from the community. If this campaign is successful, The RARE IS EVERYWHERE books will serve as an ongoing source of funding for their innovative and successful research and treatment programs for rare and undiagnosed conditions.
The Kickstarter campaign will be over in 6 days and we have raised more than 23k out of a 28k funding goal, so we are going strong – but we really need your help to get the rest of the way there!
